good places for visit on holidays in August

August is one of the busiest months of the year … wherever we go, because everyone go on vacation. Most people want to travel in early, for this reason prices are higher in this period. If you want to save some money … then wait for end of month.

Here are some tips on where you can go in August. In August we generally prefer a hotel with pool rather than a busy beach. I recommend you the coast of Catalonia for fishing, pretty mountains, and Paxos, a wonderfully quiet Greek island.

In Africa, the beaches of Kenya enjoy hot and dry weather while the wildebeest migration is in full flow, making this a fascinating time to take a Kenya safari …. but if you don’t want to go on a beach, how about a walking holiday in the splendid mountain countryside of northern Spain?

You want something special for children? How about a family cruise. You can sail from Southampton and explore the Med with plenty on board to keep the kids amused.
The islands of Sicily and Sardinia in Italy are main destination in August, because of its great beaches.

Another tips for family vacations:
visit the mountains for an Alpine Adventure
get a luxury camping at a siblu village in France
enjoy one family holiday park located on the British coast

Congratulations if you are you planning to go to Rome. Here you can discover the greatness of Rome: Trevi Fountain, the Colosseum, Monuments, Museums,Churches, Catacombs and Rome’s Castels.

Colosseum is over 2000 years old, here you can see the arena, which hosted the gladiators and thousands of screaming fans. The Pantheon is a temple dedicated to gods. With its dome, the interior of the Pantheon is breathtaking. Don’t forget about The Spanish Steps – many famous authors have been inspired by this view and Vatican City – the home of Popes.

Rome is also known for its great shopping and wonderful food, shops such as Gucci and Prada are located along the Via Del Corso.

Rome, political, cultural, and religious capital of Italy offers all along the year numerous important national and international events.

Among the most important events: Festival of the 1st May, Summer Season of the Opera, Theatre Season, Literature Festival, Tennis Masters Series, Rome Marathon, Roman Summer, Fashion shows, Museum shows, International Crafts Fair.

Eating and Drinking

A typical Roman menu begins with the essential bruschetta, and maybe also a wonderful mozzarella in carrozza. If you are a good wine lover, a lot of wine cellars in the city organize great wine tasting courses.

Rome for kids

Children’s Museum, Bioparco, Rome’s Wax Museum, Planetarium, Zoomarine…etc.

A very important tip
Take a bus, because Roman traffic is chaotic. However, the roads are not logical and the signs are few. It will take a few weeks to understand where to drive, to get where you want to go. When you drive in Rome you have to remember that Italians drive in a particular way. Taking turns and letting people go in front of you is not usual. You can find some impatience so if the light is green when you go into the street crossing and you are a little slow italians will let you note.

Colosseum in rome

Pricing

€4 – If You buy the pizza and eat it walking around
€20 – At lunchtime if you go to a restaurant
Sushi is very expensive – €40 minimum
about €1.50 for a can of soda or €1 for water
possibility to hire any kind of bike in Rome: €3/hour and €10/day

Rome is generally a safe place, even for women traveling alone. There is very little violent crime, but plenty of scams and pickpocketing that target tourists.
